COLLECTIVE WORSHIP
As a church school, we hold an act of Collective Worship each day in school. Each child will be part of this assembly (parents have the right to withdraw their child from assembly, but this must be put in writing to the Headteacher).
Singing assembly
The children learn and sing both Christian songs and contemporary songs throughout the year.
Open the Book
Every Tuesday we learn about a Bible story through drama, dance and singing. This is sometimes presented by the ‘Flames’ team from St. Georges’ and St. Giles’ church, or by a class teacher.
Values assembly
Christian Values
Every Wednesday, the children learn about this half term’s Christian value. These include:
- Friendship
- Forgiveness
- Courage
- Compassion
- Thankfulness
- Respect
Picture News
Each week the children learn about and discuss a current affair. This links to our British Values of
- Democracy
- The rule of law
- Individual liberty
- Mutual respect
- Tolerance of those of different faiths and beliefs
Don’t forget to look out for more information on the current topic in the weekly newsletter.
Celebration Assembly
Each week we celebrate the children’s learning with certificates for:
- Writing or Maths
- Our Christian values
- Star of the Week
- Headteacher Award
Our assemblies will be predominantly Christian based, although we will learn about other faiths throughout the year. If there is a special event in the year this will also be marked in an assembly; for example, Diwali, Remembrance Day or Mothering Sunday.
There are opportunities throughout the year for parents and carers to come and see the children demonstrate the work they have been doing in their classes through songs, poems, artwork and more!
